Clay County Animal Rescue & ShelterGerman Shorthaired Pointer / Chocolate Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium
We found Rita out in the country where she had been abandoned and was starving to death. She has thrived at the shelter, of all things, where she has put on weight and is just so happy to see everyone every day. She is a big lovey and will make someone a super dog. We tested Rita and unfortunately, she is heartworm positive. We asked for help/sponsorship for Rita and our community and animal lovers stepped up with an overwhelming outpouring of support. Rita's heartworm treatment is now totally sponsored. We have started her on doxycycline and she will receive her immiticide injections and exam on July 9th at Flora Vet Clinic, which gives shelter dogs 50% off heartworm treatment. Rita could be adopted at any point along here. Adopters would simply need to give her doxy up until her appointment and bring her to be treated at Flora Vet Clinic on July 9th, which is an overnight. She could be picked up the following day. Updates also include that Rita really loves to fetch. Imagine that.
